Remember Your First Train?

Cecil Scale Models is named after my grandpa and as a kid, I got to spend time in his shop where he seemed to be able to build or fix anything! I thought about those memories a lot while I was building my layout benchwork. I remember my very first train set was a gift from my grandparents. It was a simple circle of plastic track and the train was headed by a wind up (with a key) steam locomotive but I was hooked!

I started to develop our model railroad tunnel portals and tunnel liners when I reached the point on my own layout where I wanted to start building some serious terrain. Like many of you I'm sure, I went with what seemed to be the standard Woodland plaster tunnel portals. These seemed fine until I looked at the plaster tunnel liner and quickly discovered that not only are they a mess, it's nearly impossible to line a curved tunnel with them!

I knew that something better was needed as I wanted the tunnels on my layout to be as realistic as possible. I also wanted them to be as easy to build as possible and so far, these tunnel portals and tunnel Liners are proving to be just that - EASY!
As these products develop and I use them more, you can look forward to videos, painting and installation tips etc. here.

I hope using these products helps you to enjoy your model railroad even more and I look forward to hearing about and seeing your results!

All the best!
